August may have been a quieter month for some as the summer holidays got into full swing, but there has still been plenty happening across the Hub Care Support community.
From celebrating our Personal Assistants and the difference they make, to supporting a fantastic local charity, enjoying our Community Choir and sharing more about what we do, it has been another month full of connection, companionship and community.
PA Spotlight:
This month our PA Spotlight shines on Carol, following some lovely feedback from the daughter of someone she supported.
Her client has now moved into a care home, but the impact Carol made on both her client and her family has clearly remained.
The client’s daughter told us:
“I am so happy that we have had the pleasure of Carol in our lives. Carol would come into the house and instantly pick up the mood of the house. Carol would not only support Mum, she also supported me, for which I will always be thankful. We all will miss seeing Carol.”

This is such a wonderful example of the relationships that can develop between a PA, the person they support and their family.
Support is not always about completing a task. Sometimes it is about knowing when someone needs encouragement, conversation, reassurance or simply a friendly face at the door.
Thank you, Carol, for everything you have done.
PA Updates
We are delighted to welcome Candy and Jane to the Hub Care Support register. We wish them every success as they begin their new roles and become part of our PA community.
We also said a fond farewell to Gail, who is moving on to a new chapter.
Gail joined the Hub Care Support register in 2020 and has been a wonderful source of support to many people over the years. We are incredibly grateful for her time, dedication and contribution as a PA.
We wish Gail every happiness for the future and thank her for everything she has done.

Supporting People to Live Life to the Full
This month we were delighted to receive photographs from PA Keziah and her client, S, following a very special trip to London.
S loves live music and, with the support of his PA, is able to continue enjoying the concerts and experiences that matter to him.
Together they travelled to The O2 in London to see Ariana Grande – and what a view they had!
Stories like this are a wonderful reminder that care is about so much more than what people might traditionally think of as “personal care”.
Companionship, social interaction, respite, hobbies, days out and experiences are all important parts of wellbeing.
Having the right support can help people continue doing the things they love, explore new experiences and remain connected to the world around them.
A huge thank you to Keziah and S for sharing their photos and showing just what personalised support can make possible.

Charity of the Month
In August, we were proud to support The Princes Centre as our Charity of the Month.
Based in Princes Risborough, The Princes Centre is a particularly special organisation for us as it is right on our doorstep. The Centre provides care, support and activities tailored to the needs of different groups within the local community.
This includes support for:
- People living with dementia, including those with early-onset dementia, with a focus on wellbeing, dignity and independence.
- Older people who may be experiencing loneliness or isolation, while also providing valuable respite for carers.
- Adults with mild to moderate learning disabilities, offering opportunities for social interaction, skill development and personal growth.
- Individuals experiencing mental health challenges, providing a safe and supportive environment to connect with others.
We were delighted to combine our Hub Care Support donation with donations raised through our Community Choir.
The Princes Centre is currently working on its garden, and we hope our contribution will help them purchase something special to enhance the space for the people who use it.
It was a pleasure to support such an important local organisation.

Community Choir
Our Community Choir continues to be one of the highlights of our month, and August was no exception!
It was a hot one, but that didn’t stop 33 people from coming together and filling the room with music, laughter and plenty of singing.
Our monthly hour has become a wonderful opportunity for people to connect, have fun and enjoy the positive impact that music can have on wellbeing.
Whether you come along independently, with a friend, family member or with the support of a PA, everyone is welcome.
Watch this short video to find out more about what we do and see for yourself how much fun it is!
We look forward to continuing to grow our choir and welcoming even more people to future sessions.
Our next session is:
Tuesday 8th September
1:30pm
Hughenden Garden Village, High Wycombe
Everyone is welcome, and the sessions are free. Booking is available through Eventbrite where you can follow our page and sign up for the next event.
Out and about in the Community
Coffee Cake and a very special guest
It was lovely to welcome a few PAs and clients into the Hub Care Support office for a relaxed coffee morning.
Of course, there was one very clear star of the morning – Boris, the newest member of the Hub family!
It was wonderful to see people taking the time to catch up, enjoy a coffee and spend some time together outside of their usual routines.
Sometimes it is the simplest opportunities to connect that make the biggest difference.

Hub Care Support on Wycombe Sound radio

We are often described as a business with a heart, and this month we had another opportunity to talk about exactly what that means.
Larissa joined Colin on Wycombe Sound Radio to talk about Hub Care Support, our approach to personalised support and, importantly, the community work that sits at the heart of what we do.
We will be sharing more clips from the interview over the coming weeks.
For now, here’s a short introduction to the conversation: with Larissa talking about our founder Marrilyn
It was a fantastic opportunity to share more about Hub Care Support and the people, organisations and communities we are fortunate enough to work alongside.
Who we are and What we do
Sometimes it is useful to take a step back and remind people exactly who we are and what Hub Care Support does.
At the heart of our service is a simple aim: to help people find the right support for their individual needs, wishes and lifestyle.
Our Personal Assistants provide flexible, personalised support that can look very different from person to person. It might be companionship and conversation, help around the home, support with appointments, getting out into the community, enjoying hobbies, attending events or simply having someone there to make everyday life a little easier.
Our team takes the time to listen and understand what someone is looking for before introducing them to suitable PAs.
Take a look at this short video which explains a bit about who we are and what we do.
Whether you are looking for support for yourself, a family member, or simply want to understand more about what a PA can offer, we are always happy to have a conversation.
Looking Ahead
As August draws to a close and we start looking towards autumn, there is still plenty happening across our community.
We’ll continue to introduce you to the people behind Hub Care Support, share stories from our PA network and highlight some of the wonderful local organisations doing such important work.
Thank you, as always, to our PAs, clients, families, community organisations and everyone who continues to support what we do.
