July has been another busy month for Hub Care Support, with plenty happening across our PA community and out and about locally.
From celebrating the dedication of our Personal Assistants to making new community connections, supporting local charities and continuing to bring people together through our Community Choir, it has been another month full of connection, learning and opportunities to make a difference.
PA Spotlight:
Our PA Spotlight this month is Pippa, who joined the Hub Care Support register in January 2026 and has already made a wonderful difference to the people she supports.
With many years of specialist nursing experience, alongside lecturing and teaching, we knew Pippa would bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role as a Personal Assistant.
The feedback we’ve already received this month certainly confirms that.
One family described Pippa as charming, enthusiastic and incredibly knowledgeable about their situation. They told us that she is always cheerful, lifts their spirits and manages to make them laugh, while providing dependable and compassionate support.
They finished by saying:
“We wish she had come into our lives sooner. She never lets us down. We think she is wonderful.”
It is feedback like this that reminds us why finding the right PA match is so important.
Well done, Pippa. We are incredibly proud to have you as part of the Hub Care Support community.

Jackie & her client spotlight:
This month we also share the story of Jackie and the person she supports.
Jackie has provided consistent support twice a week since 2023, helping her client enjoy the things that matter to him. Her role includes companionship, gardening and getting out and about, as well as making time for hobbies and interests such as LEGO and model making.
Looking at their photographs, it is clear that a huge amount of time, patience and skill has gone into the creations they have made together.
They also have a great sense of humour and wanted to share their “little and large” photograph! At 5ft 2 and 6ft 8, they certainly make an amusing pair and admit to getting a few double takes when they are out together.

Their story is a lovely example of what personalised support can really mean.
Care is about much more than helping someone with everyday personal tasks. It can mean supporting someone to continue their hobbies, get out into the community, enjoy their interests and maintain the independence and lifestyle that is important to them.
PA Updates
We welcomed Maxine and Mikaela to the Hub Care Support register this month. We are delighted to have you both join us and wish you every success in your new roles.
We also said a fond farewell to Gaye and Julia, and we thank them for the time they have spent supporting people through their roles as PAs.
We also celebrated a retirement this month, as Christine stepped away from her PA role. We wish her a long, happy and well-deserved retirement.
And there was a very special visit to the Hub office when Natalie brought her new baby, Isabel, along to meet the team. Needless to say, everyone enjoyed a cuddle!

Charity of the Month
July 24th marked Samaritans Awareness Day, making Chilterns Samaritans our Charity of the Month.
The Samaritans provide emotional support to people who are struggling, offering a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where people can talk. Their trained volunteers support people across the UK and Ireland through a range of channels, including telephone, email and online chat.
The Chilterns branch, based in Amersham, is supported by more than 100 volunteers. As well as providing direct support, the branch works with schools, shelters and local organisations to promote mental health awareness.
We have also been fortunate to work with the team over the last year, with training sessions for our PAs focusing on difficult conversations and self-care.
We were delighted to visit Ali at the Amersham branch and present a donation on behalf of Hub Care Support. This included additional donations collected through our Community Choir.
We are incredibly grateful to the volunteers who give their time to support others.

Community Choir
Our Community Choir continues to go from strength to strength.
Our July session at Hughenden Garden Village in High Wycombe was another wonderful afternoon of music, laughter and connection. We’re becoming more familiar with our songs and enjoyed learning something a little different this month – a sea shanty!
There was plenty of clapping, swaying and singing, and we were delighted to welcome Hub Care Support founder Marrilyn along to join us.
The choir continues to demonstrate just how powerful music can be in supporting wellbeing and bringing people together.
Our next session is:
Tuesday 11th August
1.45pm
Hughenden Garden Village, High Wycombe
Everyone is welcome, and the sessions are free. Booking is available through Eventbrite where you can follow our page and sign up for the next event.

Out and about in the Community
July has given us plenty of opportunities to meet local organisations, strengthen relationships and discover more about the services available across our communities.
Memory Partners
Larissa continued her role as a committee member with Memory Partners, attending their latest meeting and helping with future planning and initiatives.
Our relationship with Memory Partners continues to grow, and we particularly enjoy being involved with their Tai Chi Café and Shibashi sessions.
Florence Nightingale Hospice
Larissa and Natasha represented Hub Care Support at the Open Gardens event supporting Florence Nightingale Hospice.
It was a lovely opportunity to enjoy the gardens while supporting an important local hospice charity..
Bucks Vision
We also spent time visiting Bucks Vision and several local GP surgeries, dropping off information about Hub Care Support where requested.
Building relationships with local services is an important part of our work, helping us make sure that people who may benefit from PA support know where they can turn.

BOPAG
Larissa and Natasha attended the latest Bucks Older People’s Action Group (BOPAG) meeting, enjoying another morning of networking and sharing information with others working to improve opportunities and support for older people across Buckinghamshire.
Bradbury House
We were delighted to meet Jane and Beverley from Bradbury House and learn more about their Day Care Activity Centre in Old Beaconsfield.
Bradbury House has been supporting people since 1994 and is set in a beautiful location close to the heart of the town.
The Activity Centre provides companionship, stimulating activities, freshly prepared lunches and snacks, and opportunities for social connection. The centre welcomes people with a variety of needs, including those with visual, sensory and mobility requirements.
It is open Monday to Friday, 10am–4pm.
For more information, contact activities@bradburyhouse.co.uk.

Super Troupers Cancer Support Group
We also returned to our Chesham roots with a visit to Super Troupers Cancer Support Group.
This welcoming group provides a safe and friendly environment for anyone affected by cancer. Whether someone is living with cancer, recovering from treatment or supporting a loved one, the group offers an opportunity to meet others, share experiences and enjoy conversation.
Sessions can also include informal talks from local professionals covering a range of useful topics.
This month, Larissa was invited to speak about Hub Care Support and the role Personal Assistants can play in providing flexible, personalised support.
The group meets monthly at Chesham Library from 10.15am–11.30am.

Building Connections across the Care Community
Following a recent networking event, Larissa had the pleasure of meeting Paul Morse, Director of Morse Funeral Services in Old Beaconsfield.
Paul invited Larissa to visit the team, providing an opportunity to learn more about the service and the support they provide to local families.
It was inspiring to see the genuine care and compassion that goes into supporting people through some of life’s most difficult moments. Building relationships with local organisations across the wider care community helps us better understand the services available to the people we support.
Working Together with Age UK
We were pleased to welcome Eleanor and Christine from Age UK to the Hub Care Support office.
It was a great opportunity to introduce them to our team and explain more about how our PA matching service works.
Age UK provides a wide range of support for older people, including help in the home, gardening, handyman services and digital support.
We value our ongoing relationship with Age UK and look forward to continuing to work together and signpost people towards the services that can best meet their individual needs.
Learning About Grief & Loss
We ended the month with a valuable training session at GreenAcres Chiltern Park, where a group of our PAs spent time learning more about grief and loss.
A huge thank you to Dani and Bekki for welcoming us and creating a safe space for discussion. The session provided an opportunity to explore grief, understand some of the challenges people may face and consider ways of looking after ourselves when supporting others through difficult experiences.
The PAs were also given a tour of the park in one of the site’s buggies with Park Manager Dani. This provided an opportunity to see the peaceful and accessible environment that GreenAcres offers.
We look forward to continuing our relationship with the team and building on what we have learned.

Looking Ahead
Although summer is still very much with us, we’re already beginning to think about the colder months ahead!
Larissa and Mel have signed up once again to take part in Wycombe Homeless Connection’s Big Sleepout.
This year brings a new location, with the event taking place at The Walled Garden in West Wycombe. It really will be a night of sleeping under the stars, all in support of a very important local charity.
The Big Sleepout takes place on Friday 13th November.
If you’d like to get involved or support this fantastic local cause, keep an eye out for more information.
That’s a Wrap for July
July has certainly given us plenty to celebrate, from welcoming new PAs and recognising the wonderful support being provided by our existing network, to meeting local organisations and continuing to build stronger community connections.
As August arrives and the summer holidays are in full swing, things may slow down a little. We hope everyone gets the opportunity to enjoy some well-deserved rest, sunshine and time with family and friends.
We’ll be back next month with more community news and updates from Hub Care Support.
