June 2026 Community Round-up

Summer has certainly arrived, and June has been another busy month filled with community events, new connections, and opportunities to celebrate the incredible people who make a difference every day.

From recognising unpaid carers and volunteers to growing our community choir, it has been a month focused on bringing people together and supporting wellbeing across Buckinghamshire.

This month, instead of our usual PA Spotlight, we’d like to introduce one of the friendly voices many people first speak to when contacting Hub Care Support.

Lynne joined the Hub Care Support team in 2021, having already been working as one of our Personal Assistants. With over 30 years of experience across nursing homes, domiciliary care and hospice care, she brought a wealth of knowledge to the administration team while continuing her role as a PA.

Lynne plays a vital role in helping people who contact us understand what support might be right for them. She takes the time to listen carefully, learn about each person’s individual circumstances and helps introduce them to Personal Assistants who best meet their needs.

As Lynne says herself, she has probably earned the “gold star” for the longest phone calls! But taking the time to truly listen is one of the things that makes Hub Care Support different.

Thank you, Lynne, for the kindness, professionalism and dedication you bring to every conversation.

And if you want to put a face to the voice at the end of the phone, click below to watch a short video from the lovely Lynne herself.

During June, we were proud to support Carers Bucks as our Charity of the Month in recognition of the invaluable work they do for unpaid carers across the county.

As part of CareFest Week, Larissa and Natasha volunteered at several events celebrating and thanking carers and giving them the opportunity to take some well-deserved time for themselves.

We joined carers for an evening walk around The Rye in High Wycombe, where people of all ages came together to enjoy fresh air, refreshments, conversation and the chance to connect with others who understand the caring role.

We also supported festival-style events held in High Wycombe and Burnham libraries. These relaxing events offered carers the opportunity to enjoy tea and cake, wellbeing therapies, sound bath experiences, Tai Chi, gentle exercise and informal conversations. It was wonderful to hear attendees say that the events gave them valuable time to focus on their own wellbeing.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making these events such a success.

This month we are delighted to welcome Patricia to the Hub Care Support register. We wish her every success as she begins supporting people within our community.

New PA Patricia

We also say a fond farewell to Catrina, who has moved on to a new chapter. Catrina has been an exceptional Personal Assistant and has made a real difference to the lives of those she has supported. We are incredibly grateful for everything she has contributed over the years. Her legacy continues, however, as her daughter Erin is now also part of our wonderful PA community

During Volunteers’ Week we were delighted to share stories from several of our Personal Assistants who also volunteer within their local communities.

Penny, Lorraine and Ana each demonstrated that supporting others often extends far beyond their PA roles. Their willingness to give their time to local organisations reflects the caring values shared by so many within our network.

Thank you to everyone who volunteers and helps strengthen our communities.

June also marked Loneliness Awareness Week, an important national campaign encouraging conversations about loneliness and the importance of meaningful social connections.

Throughout the week we shared the story of PA Bobbie and Edna, highlighting how companionship, conversation and spending time together can have a lasting impact on wellbeing, watch the video below to understand more.

At Hub Care Support we see every day how small moments of connection can make a big difference, helping people remain active, engaged and connected to their communities.

June gave us another opportunity to visit some wonderful local organisations and community groups.

St Mary’s Lunch Club, Princes Risborough

We enjoyed visiting the monthly Lunch Club at St Mary’s Church, where local people come together for entertainment, activities, lunch and companionship. Held on the 1st Wednesday of the month, from 10:00am – 3:00pm, it was wonderful to see such a well-supported community initiative creating opportunities for friendship and connection.

Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care Support Hub

We were pleased to catch up with the team at the Rennie Grove Peace Hospice at the Chiltern Lifestyle Centre in Amersham.

These welcoming drop-in sessions, held every third Monday of the month from 2:30pm – 4:30pm, provide a safe and supportive environment for anyone affected by a progressive life-limiting illness, offering conversation, wellbeing activities and the chance to meet others facing similar experiences.

Café 23

Larissa also visited Café 23 in Amersham, part of Little Chalfont Dementia Support.

It is always inspiring to see the welcoming atmosphere, engaging activities and genuine sense of community that the charity provides for people living with dementia and those who care for them.

Memory Partners Tai Chi Café

One of the highlights of every month continues to be our visits to Memory Partners and their Tai Chi Café.

Taking part in a Shibashi session and spending time with members has become a regular fixture in our calendar. We are proud to continue supporting the charity as members of their committee, helping shape future initiatives and community projects.

Click below to watch a short video of one of the sessions we recently attended, along with interviews from some of the attendees who explain just how important these sessions are for them.

Care Networking Breakfast

This month’s care networking breakfast at Signature Farnham Common brought together local charities, care providers and professionals who all share one common goal – supporting older people within our communities.

It was a fantastic opportunity to strengthen partnerships, exchange ideas and celebrate the collaborative spirit that makes our local care community so special.

Community Choir

Without doubt, one of the biggest highlights of June was our second Community Choir session.

Thirty-six people came together to sing, dance, laugh and enjoy an afternoon of music featuring songs from the musicals, Elvis, ABBA and many more favourites.

The feedback has been incredibly heart warming and reinforces the positive impact that music can have on wellbeing, confidence and social connection.

Some of our favourite comments included:

“I feel that the choir has brought me back to life. It brings me joy and I’m already looking forward to the next one.”

“I loved singing with other people. Being able to attend with the support of my PA, and knowing it’s free, makes it accessible to everyone.”

“Seeing the joy that singing brings to my husband, who is living with dementia, has been incredible. The sense of belonging, confidence and happiness it gives him cannot be underestimated.”

We look forward to welcoming everyone again at our next Community Choir session and continuing to grow this wonderful community.

As always, thank you to everyone who continues to support Hub Care Support and the many organisations, volunteers, carers and Personal Assistants who help make our communities stronger, kinder and more connected.

We look forward to sharing more with you next month.
