Supporting Local Charities, Clients and Community Connections in Buckinghamshire
It’s hard to believe another month has flown by, April has certainly been a busy and rewarding one across our community.
Whether you’re part of our Personal Assistant (PA) network, a client, a family member, or simply interested in the work we do, here’s a look at what we’ve been up to this month.
Charity of the Month
In April, we were delighted to support Social Link in High Wycombe, a charity dedicated to helping people with learning disabilities live fulfilling and independent lives.
When we asked how we could best support them, their answer was simple: dancing and afternoon tea! So, that’s exactly what we delivered. We organised a fun-filled clubbercise session, followed by a delicious afternoon tea served by Team Hub.
It was a fantastic day, full of energy, laughter, and connection and we’re looking forward to continuing our relationship with this wonderful group.

Looking Ahead: May’s charity
As we move into May, our Charity of the Month will be the Memory Café in Thame. With Dementia Action Week taking place this month, it feels especially meaningful to support an initiative that brings people together in a safe, supportive environment. You can follow them on Facebook by clicking here
We’ll be visiting them in May and look forward to sharing more about their work.
PA NEWS
A very warm welcome

A warm welcome to Lydia, Georgina and Ana Maria, who joined our register this month. We’re delighted to have you with us and hope you are settling into your new roles.
This month we also said a heartfelt goodbye to Lorna, who has retired. As one of the very first PAs to join when Hub Care Support was founded, Lorna has shown incredible dedication over the years.

Lorna was a truly dedicated PA who will be greatly missed.
PA Spotlight of the Month
Our April spotlight shines on Bruna, who has taken the initiative to further develop her knowledge in dementia care.
Bruna recently completed the Understanding Dementia course through the University of Tasmania. Reflecting on her learning, she shared how the course deepened her understanding of how dementia affects not just memory, but emotions, behaviour, and communication.
She highlighted the importance of patience, empathy, clear communication, and routine in supporting individuals living with dementia, insights that will undoubtedly enhance the compassionate care she provides.
We’re incredibly proud of Bruna’s commitment to continuous learning and developing her professional knowledge.

PA real stories that matter
A big thank you to PA Bobbie and her client for inviting us to spend time with them during an appointment. Hearing directly about the impact of PA support is incredibly powerful, and we look forward to sharing their story.

Thank you also to Liz for sharing a lovely photo of a walk with her client in Tring. These real-life moments truly capture the value of what PAs do every day.
Staying Connected
Out and About in the Community
April has been another active month connecting with lots of local organisations and initiatives:
Thomley, Worminghall
A thank you to PA Mary who kindly took time to take Larissa along to visit Thomley, a welcoming space set in beautiful countryside, supporting people of all abilities and at any stage of their journey. It was a pleasure to visit and learn more about their work.

- Flowerland – Bourne End
Following our support in March, we joined Headway South Bucks for their outing to Flowerland. It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying the trip, made possible through our donation.

- Cancer Connect
We also met with this newly formed support group, bringing together individuals on their cancer journey, they also have a monthly meet at Flowerland. It’s already creating strong connections and a safe space to share experiences.

- The Princes Centre, Princess Risborough
A valuable local service providing day centre care in Princess Risborough and Bourne End. Mags the centre manager spoke to us about their facilities and look forward to building stronger links.

- Memory Café, Chesham
A regular and much-loved gathering, and it was lovely to hear such positive feedback about the support provided by PAs Melisa and Glenn within the group. They meet every 3rd Friday of the month from 2:00 – 4:00pm.

- Wycombe Sound Radio
Larissa was invited along to Wycombe Sound Radio where she had the opportunity to talk on the morning show for about 15 minutes discussing all things Hub Care Support and the work we do in our local community. We will share clips of this on our social media page, so keep an eye out!

World Parkinson’s Day
We took time this month to recognise and raise awareness of World Parkinson’s Day.
Events and What’s Coming Up
We have some exciting events on the horizon:
- A free community choir launching in May – watch out for further details
- An evening with Nicky Graham of Grey Matters Consultancy talking about benefits, Wills, and Power of Attorney. Click on this Event Brite Link to book your place:
We look forward to seeing many of you there.
Celebrating Success
At the end of the month, some of the team travelled to London to support Ella as she completed the London Marathon. She finished in an incredible 5 hours 30 minutes and raised over £3,000 for Rennie Grove Hospice Care.
Across the team of runners, nearly £70,000 was raised, an amazing achievement that will make a real difference.

Thank you for being part our community and continuing to support the work we do!
